Day 2

Major Blues

Today is all about shedding those bass line chops on all 12 major blues keys. You will see pre-written out bass charts I notated which use a variety of the bass line formulas we learned earlier. I recommend practicing both the written bass line and then developing your own bass line in that same key. At the end of the day, this is a great way to rep scales. These exercises will also help you greatly when we dive into improvisation in the last week.

With each exercise you will find a corresponding play along track with the bass line cut out.

Note: Remember that music for “bass” is always written an octave higher than it sounds. Every one of these charts should be played down the octave from what is written.
